Mobile Auto Support ("MAP", "we", "us") is a mobile mechanic service operating at mapauto.ca and serving Surrey, Langley, Burnaby, Richmond, and the rest of the Lower Mainland in British Columbia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's PIPEDA, as they apply to us.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to respond to your request and provide service:
- Contact details - your name and phone number, and your email address if you give it to us
- Vehicle and service details - a description of the problem, the vehicle (year, make, model), and the location where you want service
- Call and message records - the details of calls, texts, and emails you send us, including call times and numbers
- Website and ad data - technical information such as your IP address, browser, device, pages viewed, and the ad or search that brought you to us, collected through cookies and similar tools
Google Ads lead forms
We advertise on Google, and some of our ads include Google-hosted lead forms. When you submit one, you give your name, phone number, and details about your vehicle issue to Google's form, and Google passes that information to us. Google acts as a service provider (data processor) for the form and handles the data under its own terms and privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy. Once we receive your submission, we are responsible for how we use it, as described in this policy. You do not have to submit a form; you can always call us on (604) 606-7509 instead.
How we use your information
- To contact you about your request, give you a quote, and book and carry out service
- To follow up after a job, handle questions, warranty or payment issues, and keep service records
- To measure and improve our advertising, such as counting how many ads lead to calls or forms
- To operate and secure our website and prevent fraud or misuse
- To meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use lead form details to send you unrelated marketing. If we ever want to use your information for a new purpose, we will ask for your consent first.
Cookies and analytics
Our website and ads may use cookies and similar technologies, including Google Ads and Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site and whether our ads are working. These tools may collect your IP address, device and browser details, and pages visited. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can manage Google's ad personalization at adssettings.google.com. Blocking cookies will not stop you from calling us or using the site.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only when needed to run the business:
- Google - for lead forms, advertising, and analytics, as described above
- Service providers - such as email, hosting, dispatch, scheduling, and invoicing tools that help us respond to you and manage jobs; they may use your information only to provide those services to us
- Technicians and partners - the mechanics or dispatchers assigned to your job, who see only the details needed to reach you and do the work
- Legal and safety - when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, customers, or the public
Some of these providers store data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, where the information may be subject to that country's laws.
How long we keep it
We keep lead and customer information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Enquiries that do not lead to a job are normally deleted within 24 months. Job, invoice, and payment records are kept for the period required by Canadian tax and business record rules (generally six years). After that we delete or anonymize the information.
How we protect it
We use access controls, password-protected accounts, and reputable providers to keep personal information safe. No method of storing or sending data is completely secure, but we work to limit access to the people who need it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can withdraw your consent to our use of it, subject to legal requirements. To do so, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on a request, and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Children
Our services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Material changes will be posted on this page.
